The UCF Institute for Artificial Intelligence has officially launched, marking a major milestone for the University of Central Florida as it aims to become a leading force in AI research, talent development, and innovation partnerships statewide.


🔬 The Mission of the UCF Institute for Artificial Intelligence:


The new institute is focused on:


  • Advancing cutting-edge research in computer vision, machine learning, robotics, healthcare, and financial systems


  • Developing the AI workforce, offering 21 degree and certificate programs across multiple colleges


  • Creating public-private partnerships to bridge academic research and real-world applications


👥 Faculty & Leadership


  • 25 faculty members will anchor the UCF Institute for Artificial Intelligence


  • The institute is led by Mubarak Shah, an internationally recognized AI leader and current Trustee Chair Professor of Computer Science


  • 11 faculty have already joined, with 8 more starting this fall


  • The Center for Research in Computer Vision (CRCV) is being folded into the new institute, expanding its research scope and reach
