🍎 Apple & Google Announce Major AI Partnership: Apple Gemini Partnership

NewBits Digest feature image for article on the Apple Gemini Partnership, highlighting Apple’s multi-year AI deal with Google, Siri upgrades, privacy-first architecture, and multi-model partnerships.

Apple and Google have officially confirmed a multi-year partnership that will use Gemini models to support Apple’s next-generation AI capabilities, including a more personalized Siri expected later this year. The Apple Gemini Partnership signals that Apple is combining its in-house approach with best-in-class external intelligence as it races to modernize Siri and scale advanced AI across its device ecosystem.

🔍 What the Apple Gemini Partnership includes

Apple said Gemini will serve as a core foundation for key AI capabilities, describing it as “the most capable” option available for the role. Reports estimate Apple could license Google’s technology for roughly $1B annually, though that figure has not been officially disclosed. Apple also confirmed its ChatGPT partnership remains active, creating an unusual dynamic where two direct AI rivals are both contributing to Apple’s broader AI experience.

At the same time, Apple emphasized continuity in how these features will be delivered: AI experiences will continue to run on-device where possible, and through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute when additional compute is needed, aligning with Apple’s privacy-first architecture. Following the announcement, Google briefly surpassed a $4T market cap, highlighting the market’s confidence in Gemini’s momentum.

✅ Why the Apple Gemini Partnership matters

For Apple, this marks a definitive path forward for Siri after years of uncertainty, with Google’s technology helping to accelerate the intelligence layer behind user-facing experiences. For Google, it’s a major validation of Gemini at global consumer scale. More broadly, the deal reflects a shifting reality in AI competition: winning is increasingly about integrating the best intelligence quickly and safely, rather than insisting every layer must be built in-house.

Bottom line: the AI race is becoming an integration race—and this partnership pushes that shift into the mainstream.
