🏛️ The AI Force
President Trump says the fears surrounding artificial intelligence are overblown.
He also just announced a government force to watch over it.

Trump says the United States will create an “AI Force” and appoint a new “AI czar” he plans to name soon. He compared the idea to the creation of Space Force while promising that his administration would not hinder or stifle the growth of artificial intelligence. The administration has not yet publicly detailed how the AI Force would operate.
The philosophy appears straightforward:
Let AI run.
Watch it carefully.
Intervene when something goes wrong.
It is a fundamentally different approach from the one being advocated by several people actually building the technology.
Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Elon Musk and other prominent AI leaders have recently supported calls to pace advanced AI development so safeguards have more time to catch up with rapidly advancing capabilities.
Trump is proposing something closer to supervision without slowdown.
And that creates a fascinating question.
⚖️ The Big Question: Can the AI Force Keep Up?
Can you regulate something without slowing it down?
Governments have tried versions of this before.
Cars became faster. We created traffic laws.
Airplanes multiplied. We created air-traffic control.
Financial markets accelerated. We created regulators.
But artificial intelligence presents a strange new problem.
The thing being supervised is itself becoming more capable.
And unlike an airplane, a bank or a factory, AI is increasingly being used to help develop the next generation of AI.
So perhaps the challenge isn’t merely building rules.
It’s building rules that can keep up.
⭐ Why the AI Force Is Important
Trump has described AI as central to America’s economic and strategic future and has emphasized maintaining the United States’ advantage over China. His newly announced AI Force appears intended to preserve rapid development while relying on existing legal authority and a new federal structure to address harmful behavior. The administration has not yet publicly detailed the AI Force’s structure, powers or implementation.
That distinction matters.
Because the great argument forming around AI may no longer be simply:
Regulate it or don’t.
It may be:
Regulate before something happens — or respond after it does.
One approach worries that putting up too many stop signs could cost America the race.
The other worries that by the time we know where the stop signs belonged, we may already have driven past them.
And somewhere between those two ideas sits the experiment now unfolding in Washington:
Build the fastest machine in history.
Then build a government fast enough to follow it.
